?Mr. Knotts obtained his undergraduate degree from Indiana University, where he graduated with honors and highest distinction, was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and received the Listonfelt scholarship as the outstanding senior in the History Department. After college Mr. Knotts worked with the National Park Service as a park ranger in Yellowstone National Park. Mr. Knotts received a masters degree at the University of North Carolina in 1982 prior to entering law school at the University of Oregon. Mr. Knotts graduated from law school with honors, was an Alumni Scholar, Booth Fellow, and was awarded Order of the Coif.
?Upon completing law school, Mr. Knotts served a judicial clerkship with the Honorable Stephen Bistline of the Idaho Supreme Court. Since that time, Mr. Knotts has developed a litigation and alternative dispute resolution practice. Mr. Knotts' practice at Quane Smith, LLP has included product liability litigation, personal injury and casualty litigation, insurance issues, professional liability, governmental liability, fire losses, employment practices, ERISA litigation, environmental and land use litigation and general litigation and appellate matters.
?Mr. Knotts is a member of the Idaho bar, and has appeared in state and federal courts throughout Idaho and Wyoming. Mr. Knotts also has argued appeals before the Idaho Supreme Court and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is a graduate of the National Institute of Trial Advocacy, and is the author of "Valuing Damages in Personal Injury Actions Awarded for Gratuitously Rendering Nursing and Medical Care," 49 A.L.R.5th 685 (1997). Mr. Knotts is a partner, and practices in the Boise Office.
